2007 Rookie List

Carlton entered Season 2007 with 2 Rookies still on the list, Aisake Ó hAilpín and Ryan Jackson. Therefore, we had 4 rookie selections available and selected the following Blues:

Pick 1 : Sam Jacobs, Woodville-West Torrens, SANFL
Pick 17 : Michael Jamison, North Ballarat
Pick 32 : Ross Young, Northern Bullants

We passed with our final selection, leaving the Blues with 5 rookies for the year.

Interestingly, we picked up another ruckman to add to our 2006 Drafting stocks of Cain Ackland and Shaun Hampson, in Sam Jacobs. Both key position player Jamison and Young had been invited to join our pre-season training and were rookied as a result of their efforts.

During the season, Ross Young was elevated to replace the injured Nick Stevens, whilst Ryan Jackson was elevated to replace Shaun Grigg, but would unfortunately be injured almost immediately. Later in the year, Michael Jamison was promoted after injury ended the career of Carlton Great Anthony Koutoufides, to become our third Rookie promotion in 2007.

Come Season's end, o'hAilpin and Jackson were formally promoted to the senior list, with both Jamison and Jacobs retained on the Rookie List for 2008.

NB Please note that for the purposes of the Blueseum, we have called the Rookie Draft at the end of the 2006 year, the 2007 Rookie Draft, given that Draft provided rookies for the 2007 playing year.
