Game Review

The Blues won the game in the first term through the ruck dominance of Graham Donaldson. Carlton produced quality, sparkling football to leave the Dons nonplussed, with full forward Sergio Silvagni booting four of his five goals during this quarter. Laurie Kerr negated Essendon's Jack Clarke in the centre and John Chick starred on his wing, especially before half time. When Essendon threatend to get back into the game John Nicholls playing across the backline held up many attacking moves through his marking. The game developed into a fast, and exciting match which the Blues ran out winners by 14 points.
