Every issue was won by a Carlton player. We got just about every hard ball, were at the foot of just about every pack and looked the better side just about all day. From one end of the ground to the other we had winners. Hard-running, hard-tackling winners. Even without the superstars, we continue to crush opposing sides and for all those Melbourne loyalists. Monday must have been a blatant expose of their weaknesses. Justin Madden dominated the entire match. He loves every minute of his football and his great play brings Naley, Bradley and Gleeson into their own. But it is unfair to single out players, because you will always manage to leave one or two out. Blues wallop Demons
The standard of the umpiring at the Carlton-Melbourne game kept people guessing long after any interest was left in the game on the scoreboard. Melbourne received a staggering 37 free kicks to Carlton's 17. The Carlton supremacy, according to the stat sheet, was in the air (70 marks to 42) and in handballs (114 to 71). The game produced some remarkable stats too - Melbourne's Brian Wilson had 30 possessions (20 & 10) and four marks, while Carlton's Craig Bradley had 25 possessions (22 & 3) and five marks. Steve Kernahan went to the top of the League marking ladder with the sterling effort of 12 grabs and topped it off with 11 kicks and 11 marks.
