Game Review
The Richmond Football Club handed out a smashing to the Blues in this late season game, as Carlton's supreme team of the mid 1990's was proven to be a thing of the past, despite some great names still in this line-up. Excluding free kicks awarded for kicking out on the full, the Blues received just four free kicks for the whole match against Richmond. This represents the fewest frees to any side in a game so far this season. Richmond's win over the Blues was their first at the MCG against the Blues since 1991 and it was the Tigers first under lights against Carlton since 1988. It was the third time these sides have met under lights at the MCG with Carlton winning the other match in 1994.To make it worse, a young Tasmanian by the name of Justin Plapp in his debut year would earn his only ever Brownlow Vote and kick 5 goals on a struggling Peter Dean, in the last months of the great Dean's career.
