Game Review

A six-goal third quarter set up Carlton’s eighth win of the season in this battle of the also-rans at Princes Park.

Blues full-forward Keith Warburton and acting captain Ken Hands kicked five goals apiece, as the home side shut down the Demons after half-time and ran out convincing winners.

Meanwhile, across the other side of town at the Lake Oval, South Melbourne lost to Collingwood by a point, allowing Carlton to move up one place on the ladder to seventh. Fitzroy lost to Essendon, and Footscray tipped the Maroons out of the top four by beating Hawthorn.
