Game Review
Carlton suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Footscray in their round two clash at the Western Oval.Footscray's Simon Beasley kicked the Bulldogs to victory with six goals whilst Ken Sheldon was good for the Blues with four of his own.
Carlton got off to a fine start with six goals in the first quarter, and looked to be carrying on from their great form in the Grand Final replay the week before where they comprehensively thrashed Richmond, but Footscray rebounded by kicking six goals to one in the second term.
Footscray led by just eight points at three quarter time, but by outscoring Carlton two goals to one in the final quarter, made victory a certainty.
Earlier, Carlton's reserves beat Footscray 14.11 (95) to 13.14 (92), with Gavin Exell kicking 6 goals.
