Craig Cross was picked up at Pick 6 in the 1990 mid-season draft, he was the Blues first pick overall of that draft. Cross who plays as a ruck-rover / forward was recruited from the Burnie Hawks on Tasmania's north coast. He had originally played with Richmond's reserves and U/19's teams (1984 - 1985).
At the time of his drafting by the Blues, Cross said "he was surprised that he was drafted but was looking forward to the challenge".
He did not manage a senior game for Carlton.
