It is unknown if he actually played a senior game. McClumpha's name does not appear again for 1895 and not at all in 1896, he may have been playing in the Second Twenty, but details for this competition in the mid 1890's are scarce.

1898 June 24
McClumpha reported in the North Melbourne Courier that he was recruited from Fitzroy Juniors (Fitzroy's seconds). Is this the same person?
McClumpha was playing on the half-back flank for North Melbourne in the VFA. He was named as one of North's better players in their 28 point loss to Footscray.

Two weeks later at the match on July 09, the North players wore crepe on their arms as mark of respect to McClumpha whose father had recenty passsed away during the week. (North Melbourne Courier July 15 1898 p3)

In 1907 there was a maintenance case between and Ellen McClumpha and Edgar McClumpha reported in the North Melbourne Courier April 05 1907 p2.
It happens that Edgar's real name is James Edgar McClumpha born in Unley Adelaide in 1871 and died in 1932, he was the elder brother of Ernest Charles.
His date of birth was March 06 1871, if he is the Carlton player then this fits in with 1895 as he would have been aged 24 when starting at the Blues.
