Game Review

In another clash against a top four side, Carlton was hammered by Fitzroy by 44 points at Princes Park.

Carlton were confident that their recent form and overall big man strength would carry them through. Fitzroy had to rely soley on their two ruckmen Alan Gale and Ron Harvey. Amazingly
these two dominated for the entire game in the heavy, greasy conditions. Fitzroy's little men ran the legs off Carlton's larger side. Their handball and passing was more precise, but both teams wasted chances in front of goal. The Blues really only had two winners on the ground, half back Johnny James who saved his team many times, and full back George Ferry who consistently beat his opponent.

One of the few positives from the game for the Blues was the continued good form of rover Leo Brereton, whose two goals took his season tally to 34. Although our percentage took another hit, the Blues still clung to 8th ladder position, ahead of Footscray, Geelong, North Melbourne and Richmond.
