Game Review

After handing out a thrashing the week before, the Blues were this time on the receiving end – this time from form team and eventual premiers, the West Coast Eagles. An even midfield and multi-pronged forward line kept Carlton out of the game, with the usual midfield trio of Greg Williams, Barry Mitchell and Fraser Brown holding their heads up.

Carlton teams of the era were famous for high stat counts, often up above 350 per game, but in this game we were kept to 274, showing how effective the super-defensive team of the Eagles were at the time.
