Shearer's first season he mainly played as a half-forward but moved to full-forward in his second season at the Blues.
In the 1962 Carlton Football Club Annual Report, it noted that he had signed on as one of Carlton's recruits for the following season in 1963, he was listed as being 17 years of age within the report.
Shearer was recruited from Cobram.
He didn't manage to play a senior game for Carlton.
