Game Review

For a third week in succession, the confident Blues defeated a rival flag contender with this impressive win over Footscray at Princes Park. Although still fifth on the ladder, the Blues were suddenly just one win away from second. "Turkey Tom" Carroll's five goals lifted his total to 29 for the season - four behind the leader; Doug Wade of Geelong.

Carlton had many good players, possibly the best being ruckman Maurie Sankey, unbeaten all day. John Benetti in the back pocket and Peter Barry at full-back provided solid defence, while rover Peter Falconer was clever and elusive. Full-forward Tom Carroll kicked a valuable five goals, while Berkley Cox, in the centre, and Bruce McMaster-Smith, on the wing were too fast for the opposition. - Football Record.
